Stab in the Heart

Today as I stepped outside, the warmth of sunshine greeted me as rays of glory and the aroma of springtime filtered through the air. The lush array of blooming flowers surrounded me in colorful array, and I lifted my voice in gratitude to God above.

But a stab in the heart instantly  brought me back down to reality. That ever gnawing realization that my son will never again enjoy earth’s abundance cannot be restrained, and tears spill from my eyes, and roll down my cheeks.

His love for plants and birds revitalize my own interest, but also reminds me of a heartache that will forever remain.
