What is Death?

102317314The Bible refers to death as sleep; or being asleep. “…When I awake, I am still with you” (Psalms 139:18)

Death (deth)–noun

The act of dying; the end of life; the total and permanent cessation of all the vital functions of an organism. The state of being dead: to lie still in death.

1. Birth, life.

“Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death…” (Psalms 13: 3)

“Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt (Daniel 2: 2)

“We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed—in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. (1 Corinthians 15:51)
